The other day one of the Groundwire coaches had an interesting conversation with a young lady who was asking how you could know if God is really listening when you pray.  Because this is a common question and reoccurring theme, I thought I would give you a glimpse into some of their conversation.

Consider the Groundwire coaches thoughts on why it sometimes seems like God isn’t listening, even though He is working in the midst of situations and arranging things perfectly.

Next week, I will briefly share about how you can hone your ability to hear God’s voice on a personal level.  It is not an exact science by any means, but it is a skill that can be developed.  Next week I will list some tips that can be applied.  But, it is very important that you understand God wants you to become familiar with his voice and ultimately be led by His will.

Talk to you next week.

JP:   I have a problem I can’t handle, and God doesn’t seem to listen.

GW: So, you are saying, "God didn't hear me because my situation

          stayed the same?"

  JP:   kinda yeah

GW: well, I understand what you are saying, but perhaps you are

         asking for the wrong things...

GW: I say this, not knowing exactly what circumstances you want

         changed.

GW: Here is what I mean.

GW: Sometimes God does change situations...

GW: other times he changes the people.

GW: Perhaps God has a purpose in you continuing in your journey that is bigger than the

        here and now.

GW: Two examples from scripture come to mind.

GW: The first is Jesus.

GW: He prayed that he wouldn't have to suffer, it wasn't appealing to him.

GW: But, then said, "Nonetheless, your will be done.

GW: And, the bigger picture is what God used to determine how he answered the prayer.

GW: Without Jesus' death, there could be no resurrection.

GW: There could be no forgiveness of sins.

GW: God didn't change his circumstances...but he did make good come out of it.

GW: The second comes from the Old Testament.

GW: The Israelites were stuck in Egypt and they were crying out for things to change, but

        they didn't.

GW: Things actually got worse for a season.

GW: I am sure that some of the people there must have been discouraged,

GW: They probably thought God wasn't listening.

GW: but in time, God rose up Moses and led them out into the "promised Land".

GW: A great place...

GW: What do you think?

JP:   yeah, like I get what your saying but...

JP:   how do you know if there is going to be a solution?

JP:   like how do you know God's going to change it over time

GW: Trust...

GW: Blind and simple trust in the lover of your soul.

GW: The One who promised to work everything for good if you love Him.

GW: When I was teaching my daughters to swim, I took them to a pool where there was a

        large water slide.

GW: I went down with them first, but after one try, my youngest wanted to do it by

        herself...but she was scared.

GW: I promised her that I would stand at the bottom and catch her when she came out.

GW: There were two voices in her life.

GW: One was silently saying, this was a death wish.

GW: She was going to plunge into the deep and not be able to recover.

GW: But the other one told her that she would be fine.

GW: It reminded her of all the times I had been there for her.

GW: It convinced her that I was loving enough to pay attention,

GW: and big enough to deal with the circumstance of the water.

GW: Well, after much convincing she came down.

GW: In the slide, she got turned around and turned over.

GW: So, instead of coming down on her butt, she came down blind, laying on her belly and

screaming at the top of her lungs.

GW: But, as soon as she plunged into the water, I was there to grab her, hold her, and pull

        her to the side.

GW: She had to trust that I was loving enough and big enough.

GW: That is what we are talking about here.

GW: Is God big enough and loving enough?

GW: That is what you have to determine deep down.

JP:   yeah I get what your saying and you did answer my question but now I have another one

God is big enough…and He is loving enough to help you through anything that you are facing.
