We have all faced fear, doubt, stress, and worrying about the uncertainty of the future. You may be just starting college, finishing college, or maybe you have been working for a couple of years and now are wondering what is next. You ask yourself what do I do now? How can I afford that? Where will I live? Who will I marry? But focusing on the questions of life mostly just distracts us from what God is showing us to do right now.

Fearing about the future or next step is telling God that He is not in control and that you don’t trust Him. He knows the best plan for your life. He knows everything you will need to accomplish the task ahead. The Bible says He knew us before we were born. If He knew who we were then, then I am sure He can handle the rest.  

Many times in my own life I tried to fix the problem or figure out the next step without letting God do it. I can tell you all it does is lead you to more questions, give you more fear, and brings disorder, doubt and chaos into your life.  

In Matthew 6:24 it says “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

It also speaks of how the birds do not toil in vain, they don’t store up their food fearing they won’t eat. If God provides for them, how much more will God provide for you? When life and the world around us seem to be falling apart we need to remember that God promises more for us. He promises a more abundant life. He promises peace. He promises a plan that will prosper you, a plan that gives you a future and a hope.  

When your thoughts start to turn to the why’s and how’s of life you need to turn aside, thank God that He is in control and that He knows what is best for your life. Start to quote the promises He has for you: I have a future in Christ. I have a hope in Him. I will live an abundant life through Him. Believe that He does what He says He will do. He loves you. He wants the best for you. Let go of the control in your life and let God bring you to the perfect future He has for you.
