Dealing with Pain and Abuse | Print |  E-mail

This world is a horrible place for many people. There are those that have been left unprotected, and therefore been setup forintense encounters with pain that continue to dominate theirmemories. There are others that have been taken advantage of and hurt by the very people that should have been protecting them. The statistics are undeniable, high percentages of people in this world are walking around with the hidden scars of pain and abuse.

Although I can not explain why God would allow some of those horrible things to happen to people that He loves, I am convinced that He can help you begin to heal. God's love is perfect. And, if you let it, that love can be the mechanism that will mend your fragmented heart and scarred soul.

You see, like a perfect parent, God watches you carry around your burdens and anguish, and His heart breaks. When your eyes shed tears, He catches them. When your heart sighs, He feels your pain and wants to release you.

However for you to be healed, you must learn to trust Him. Although others have let you down in the past, He never will. Although some have spitefully taken advantage of you, He will only give. Everything that He is, you can have, but you must be willing to let Him get close.

His love is so extreme that He did not hold back anything from you. He has promised you perfect peace and ultimate hope. He has promised you that He would never disappear when things got difficult. Basically, He has promised to stay with you through the whole process, continually looking over you until you are whole again.

All of His promises are activated as you trust Him and let Him get close. If you are familiar with the pain and abuse that torments multitudes of people, then you need to let God bring healing to your heart. You can begin that process by praying this prayer.

"God, I can’t hide it anymore. I am hurting. There are some things in my past that I am having problems forgetting about. The scars still remain. Although I’ve tried to get past them, I can’t by myself. I need your help. God, would you heal me? Would you let me experience your love in a way that I can begin to trust it, and trust you? I have a problem trusting people naturally, but I want to trust you. Show me how. It is the name of Jesus I pray. Amen."
