Verse of the Day

Graffiti | Print |  E-mail

The other day while sitting at a railroad crossing, a coal car passed me with some graffiti. I found it interesting.  In bright colors and bold graphics it simply said, “I don’t know my dad.”

I began to wonder about the person who had made this statement. What type of pain had that caused? What questions had it raised?  Not knowing your biological father creates many challenges.  Some don’t know who they are.  They question their value and they wonder if they are loveable.

These questions can be haunting…even paralyzing.  If this foundational element of a person’s life is removed, they can struggle for years.  If the breach is never repaired, they might never overcome it.  But, thankfully, there is One who promised to be the father to the Fatherless.  The God of Heaven loves you with an everlasting and unconditional love that can bring peace, hope, and healing.  He chose you and promises to never leave you. Whether or not you know who your earthly father is, you can be sure that your Heavenly Father is crazy about you and invites you to get to know Him personally and intimately.

I really believe that the greatest invitation in life is when God invited you and me to get to know Him on a personal level.  He wants you to know His encouraging whispers and His empowering embrace. He doesn’t want you wondering what He is like and what He thinks of you, He invites you to discover Him first hand…and it all begins with Scripture.

If you want to get to know your Heavenly Father, you begin with His book. In the Bible you will learn of His promises, His passions, and His plans.  You will see glimpses of truth that will set you free, and challenges that will help you grow.

You may be just beginning a relationship with your great God, or you may have been a Christ-follower and a completely aware child of God for many years, but you will get to know Him more every time you open the Bible and draw near to Him.
While speaking with some religious leaders Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.”  Matthew 22:29

I Have A Question

Would You Pray With Me?
