Verse of the Day

Trusting through trying times | Print |  E-mail
Do you find yourself struggling day in and day out and wondering what it is all for?  This same issue is dealt with in Ecclesiastes 2:11: But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless.  It was like chasing the wind.  There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.” (NLT)  But you are in for an adventure to learn that there is more to our lives if we will let it be.

Whenever we lose sight of the hope we have been so graciously given, we can begin to feel lost. Once we are lost, we will feel helpless and struggle through every moment.  Whether it is physically, mentally, or spiritually lost, we try to find our way.  Many times we are so focused on ourselves that we forget who can help us with those struggles.  “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his ways, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass” (Psalms 37:7, NKJV).

God never will give you what you can’t handle, but remember: when it feels as though you are swimming upstream, that is when you need to trust in the Lord to help carry you through the tough times.  As with everything, they will pass.  Remember everything is easier to handle with the help of the Lord!

Although it may be time to pick up your cross, there is more to life than struggles.  We do not need to just live and die.  Christ died on the cross for us to save us from our sins so that we can have freedom and have an abundant life.  He did not die that every struggle be taken from us but rather to follow Him to a much brighter tomorrow.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV).

Unfortunately, if we insulate ourselves from difficulty, we may be short circuiting character development and the opportunity to help others.

The path of life was paved for you.  The Lord is the giver of life and He knows the way, which means that is where our trust should be.  Let the Lord carry and guide you each and every step!
