Verse of the Day

A reason for everything | Print |  E-mail
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven a time to be born and a time to die.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a NIV). Whether or not we really understand the purpose of what we or others are going through, there is always something to learn. We live in a fallen world and therefore will have pain and suffering around us. Jesus also suffered in the world. “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter...”(Isaiah 53:7 NKJV) God wants us to remember that He is there. Trust that through the trouble, His purpose will be fulfilled.

Take a look around your own life. What is happening? Sometimes our minds begin to wonder, “Where is God in all of this?” Look at what Jesus tells His disciples: “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-25 NKJV). Trust in God, and let him lead you.

There are many times in my life when I have wondered why something was happening. Many years ago I had a friend who, as far as we knew, had her whole life ahead of her. However, she was in a terrible car accident. She was hit directly in the driver’s side door. She was taken to the hospital where she was put on life support until the family could make it to the hospital and decide what they would do next. Unfortunately, because her body had suffered so much damage, she did not survive.

It was a terrible loss, but the miracle came at her funeral when several non-church friends came. One boy went up to pastor and told him that He wanted to check out this place that this girl had so much passion for, and he needed to see if her Jesus was real. Through this tragedy, God brought another to see the light of faith.

We need to realize that through every pain and struggle there is something to learn. We should always be searching for ways to grow closer to Him! Dig deeper in Christ daily!
