| Looking for Christ in Christmas | | Print | |

He’s making a list, No matter how many times people complain about shopping, travelling, or decorating for this time of year, deep down inside I would say every single person feels some bit of joy on or around Christmas time. But where does that joy come from? Where are you looking for your joy this Christmas season? It is easy to become distracted with all the fun beauty surrounding the season with the cute Christmas ornaments and finding the perfect Christmas present, even dreaming of a winter wonderland when you wake up on Christmas morning. But those things will not bring you the lasting joy that Christ does at Christmas and all year long. “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11 As each Christmas passes, no one has or ever will be able to top the gift God has given each and every one of us. The gift of His Son; born to die a painful death for you and me on a cross so that we may accept and have eternal life in Heaven. What a beautiful sacrifice. Any favorite Christmas tradition or memory you hold deep inside your heart cannot possibly bring you more joy than this precious gift of a Savior. The Bible tells us that when the wise men saw the star they were overjoyed. That star is what led them to Jesus; what led them to bow down to the Son of God sent to demolish our sins and give us new life! Let that be our joy this Christmas! Let everything we do for Christmas reflect the love we have in our hearts from Jesus. Let us share the joy we have received with others who have yet to experience the love of such a gift. Jesus is all we need. Presents and tinsel and trees are not the focus. Look for Christ this season in everything you do! Shine like the star you are in Christ so that others may be guided by your light to find the good news of great joy that will save their hearts and lives forevermore. Submitted by Diane Meyers |
