"Never Alone"
I was amazed when I realized that I was not the only one.
Large portions of my life have been lived battling a silent enemy;
Loneliness, an unwanted companion that I did not invite, but could not
escape.
Sometimes it was the silence and solitude that created the awkward feeling
that I was isolated and unwanted. Other times, in the midst of a crowd, the
whispers of insecurity convinced me I was misunderstood, judged, or awkward.
These feelings forced me to emotionally curl up in the proverbial ball as I
longed for a day when relationships were simple, love easier to find, and
pressure more subtle.
Many days, these feelings knocked me flat on my back, but other times I
forged on until I discovered a sense of peace and rest that sustained me,
spurred hope, and brought encouragement.
The most beneficial thing that I learned from those times was that I am
never alone. I know that it sounds routine to declare, but it is true. "I am
never alone."
The one who knows me perfectly refuses to leave me or forsake me. The one
who created me longs to bring me the peace and the hope that live
desperately for.
Because of this peace, I have learned to lean on Him.
When I begin to feel alone, I remember He is right next to me waiting for me
to look to Him. I can envision His warm smile on my face, His pleasure that
is directed towards me, and His whisper that is never discouraging.
When I take time to lift up my burdens (even the haunting emotions) to Him,
he comes and engages me. The warmth of His presence destroys the dank sense
that loneliness and insecurity bring.
If you are like me and occasionally struggle with the emotional lies that
say you are insignificant, alone, or unwanted, make sure you are allowing
the Lord to take care of you. He longs to meet all your needs, even the
emotional ones, as he inspires courage in your life.
If you listen, you will hear His encouragement, and if you take time, you
will sense His pleasure. He loves you and he wants you to know "You are
Never Alone".
