Text Version Recently, I was sent an article that made me laugh out loud. Turns out that during the Christmas season of 1993, some pranksters claimed to have switched the voice boxes on 3,000 Barbies and GI Joes. As a result some kids ripped open their presents on Christmans morning to discover feminine dolls that would gruffly say, "Dead men tell no lies". LIttle boys were receiving bazooka packing Gi-Joes that energetically exclaimed, "want to go shopping?". Although I find this story funny as I picture the looks of surprise on the faces of both children and adults, the thing most interesting to me is that Barbie's maker, Mattel, said that it received absolutely no complaints. Can you believe that, the voice boxes in 3,000 dolls had been switch, but no one person said anything. To me, this highlights a point that I see everyday. People are buying into philosophies that claim to be fulfilling but are not. While the lifestyles that people live are supposed to bring contentment, happiness, and pleasure, often just the opposite is true. Only through a relationship with Jesus Christ can a person truly experience life to the full. If someone replaced your fulfilling life with one that lacks freedom and joy, maybe you have been sold a lie. Perhaps you should give Jesus a try. © 2007 Champion Ministries dba Groundwire |
