In Me

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the One who is in the world.”  I John 4:4.

Have you ever stopped to consider the incredible qualifications of our God?

We know that the God of the Bible is big…He is immoveable, unshakeable, unbeatable.  He is the top rung on the ladder.  There is no one above Him, nothing bigger, and absolutely nothing more powerful.  He isn’t knowledgeable, He is knowledge.  He holds the stars in His hands and perfectly orchestrates the cosmos.

We could go on and on about His merits, His accomplishments, and the glory of His splendor, but today I want to remind you of one aspect of Him that always shocks me. In  I John, the Scriptures reminds us that that same God who is in effect indescribable dwells in every person who has trusted Jesus with their life.

See, the same amazing God who created the world by speaking it into existence…that same God who makes demons tremble lives in you.  And, because of that simple, yet impossible-to-comprehend fact you can have courage to face whatever the day (or life) will bring.

People can attack your reputation but you can stand because God is bigger.   As much as you would hate for it to happen, something unfair can happen to you, but God is bigger.  When you are overwhelmed and tired, you can fight through discouragement, because He will give you strength.  When you are tempted in an up-front and aggressive way, he will help you stand, because He remains stronger than anything you will ever face.

I want to encourage you with this fact.  Let it become the foundation that offers courage and confidence.  If you are a believer in Jesus and have trusted Him with your life, not only is Heaven your promised home.  Not only has Christ paid for the forgiveness of your sins; and, not only does He offer you the love, peace, hope, and healing that you need to live a successful life on earth, but the source of all power, the One who will never be defeated lives inside of you.  He fights for you and beside you.

Let this sink in.  Let it affect the way you think about yourself and the way you live your life.  If you continue to increase in the awareness that the God is with you, lives in you, and is greater than anything you face, you will begin to experience more success and overwhelming joy in life.   Your memory won’t empower Him any more as He is perfect and His amazing nature remains intact, but if you can remember that Christ in you is greater than your circumstances, your enemy, and your questions, you will live more freely in Him and experience victory every day.

Spend a few minutes today dwelling on the bigness of God; then, thank Him for dwelling inside of you.
